In mountain regions, the first warmth of spring fills many with the urge to leave civilization behind for the peaks. This impulse connects us to the glories of the natural world – but is there something darker in our longing to break with hearth and home? Using the folklore and song of the Appalachian region, Echoes on the Peaks spins two tales of travelers who ascend Tennessee’s Roan Mountain seeking fulfillment – but instead are forever changed by an encounter with the mountain’s resident ghost.
